One of the absolute best parts about living in Florida is having permanent, easy access to an abundance of beautiful beaches, and it’s even better when you’re a photographer. I will never tire of spending evenings with lovely couples like Anaïs and Jason just strolling through the soft sands, documenting the romance, the sparks between them as the waves hit their feet and the sun sets slowly below the horizon. Anaïs and Jason’s whimsical Siesta Key Beach engagement session hardly felt like work; these two showed up and showed off in their best outfits & ready to let their love simply shine through the camera lens. We ended the night with the most stunning sunset over the water, so read all the way to the end to see those photos!

Get to know this incredible couple
I’m a photographer who values connections and enjoys getting to know my couples! That’s why I love engagement sessions; they help us bond and make you camera-ready before your big day. Take Anaïs and Jason, for instance. I invested time in understanding them through a questionnaire before their session. This not only strengthened our bond but also prepared them for their wedding day, making the entire experience enjoyable and memorable. Through these photos, I’ll highlight key moments from their story, helping you to get to know them better!
Jason, a Sarasota native, met Anaïs through a mutual friend when she danced at the Sarasota Ballet. After a year of friendship, they became a couple, and the rest is history! Their love story is a classic friends-to-lovers tale. They share a passion for trying new restaurants, exploring farmers’ markets, hiking, and uncovering hidden gems while traveling. Together, they’ve ventured through almost every state in the U.S. and visited several countries!
Anaïs and Jason are getting married this fall in a stunning Sarasota waterfront venue. The city holds special meaning for them, it is where they first met and close to Jason’s family. I am so looking forward to capturing their big day in the place that means so much to them!
A whimsical beach engagement in Siesta Key
Choosing favorites from this dreamy engagement shoot to share was nearly impossible, but I did my best to bring together all the images that truly show you the magic we created together. Anaïs and Jason picked a stunning beach in Siesta Key for their engagement shoot. We were lucky to have the most beautiful lighting, scenery, and a Florida sunset. One great feature of Florida beaches is the long sandy shore, along with the coastal greenery and bushes to explore during your visit. This creates such a wonderful variety in your gallery!
We started off in the trees, Jason twirling Anaïs around in her gorgeous gown as the daylight slowly started to melt away. I know that everybody loves golden hour (and trust me, I do too), but the soft glow of that last portion of daylight in the sky is just so dreamy, especially at the beach. I am in love with the black-and-white shots we got of these two strolling through the grass, the final bit of sun shining down on them through the clouds.
As the sky turned a little more blue and that golden light started coming out, we made our way over to a little boat on the shore for some romantic portraits of Anaïs and Jason dancing, looking out at the picturesque views, and cozying up on the edge of the boat. Finding a prop to use in your photos (which doesn’t necessarily have to be as big as a boat!) is a great way to add some movement and fun variety in your images.
Siesta Beach is perfect for dreamy, beachy engagement photos near Sarasota, as these pictures show. The sunshine, clear skies, and blue water create the most perfect backdrop (along with plenty of palm trees)! Additionally, the island offers something for everyone, from engaged couples and families to couples seeking a beachside wedding venue, all alongside its stunning beaches. With opportunities for outdoor adventure on the trails and in the water, award-winning restaurants, and neverending sunshine, I can’t recommend having a Siesta Key engagement session enough.

All-white, bridal-inspired engagement outfits
I love the trend of couples wearing bridal-style outfits for engagement photos. Style isn’t just for weddings! I always encourage my couples to dress in a way that represents their truest selves, and Anaïs and Jason nail it! Anaïs wore a beautiful modern bridal dress with a sheer corset top, flowy sleeves, and a whimsical tulle skirt. She looked breathtaking wandering around the beach in this gown and the high ponytail she was rocking! If that wasn’t enough, at sunset, she transformed into an elegant vintage gown with a flowing train. I was so in love with both of her beachy looks!
Jason opted for a simple, light look in an all-white outfit: a collared shirt and light beige pants, complementing Anaïs’ airy style. When she changed dresses, he switched to darker tan pants, creating a chic contrast with the pale blue ocean backdrop. They seriously killed it with their beach engagement outfits!
I am so glad I got to spend this time with Anaïs and Jason exploring Siesta Key, photographing the love and joy between them, and I can’t wait to see all the amazing things they do together as husband and wife.
